The San Antonio housing market is strong and shows “no signs of cooling.” That’s the word from the San Antonio Express-News, who used new data released from the San Antonio Board of Realtors in October, during which sales and prices kept “pace to set another record this year,” they said. Southside San Antonio is largely responsible for the record numbers as buyers discover this revitalized area.

That growth is due in part to new homes on the Southside, the “redevelopment of the San Antonio River's southern leg, and the designation of the Spanish colonial missions as UNESCO World Heritage sites,” said the San Antonio Express-News. Sales of homes in San Antonio going strong this summer

The weather isn’t the only thing that’s hot right now. So are sales of Homes in San Antonio. The San Antonio Board of Realtors’ data shows that, “Summer home sales are off to a sizzler of a start in San Antonio,” said KSAT. “In May, even before school let out, 3,133 existing homes were sold — an 11 percent increase over the same time one year ago,” they said. The median price for those homes was $219,700 — a 5 percent jump from the prior year.”

Tech sector driving San Antonio job market

As San Antonio continues to grow, so too does its vibrant job market. “San Antonio’s tech sector is growing,” said the San Antonio Business Journal. “About 670 jobs were added to the market of more than 34,700 workers in the technology industry according to a report by the Computing Technology Industry Association, also known as CompTIA, a nonprofit trade organization based in Illinois.” That equates to a two percent increase in the San Antonio job market for the year.

According to the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, “The housing market in San Antonio is still hot. The volume of homes sold in the city and surrounding areas surged in January while the cost to buy a home continued to rise, building off of last year’s record results.”

Significant job creation, economic success and high demand for products have made the Toyota plant in San Antonio a successful investment for a leading manufacturer in the automobile industry and along with that made the Southside of San Antonio a highly desirable place to live. The plant produces more than 200,000 Toyota Tundra and Tacoma automobiles per year. Since production began in 2006, employees have been working overtime to keep up with demand.
