Get ready to swim! Pool construction is well underway, which we know makes everyone at Mission del Lago happy. The very wet spring weather has impacted our schedule but we are moving quickly, and will update you as we progress as to an opening date.
Please join us in congratulating the Resident Board members who were voted in at our Annual HOA Meeting: New member Jesus L. Villarreal III, “Leo” to his friends, and returning Resident Board Member, Pete Benavides.
Not only does Leo serve the residents at Mission del Lago, but he also proudly represents the Unites States Air Force. Leo is retired from the Air Force Reserves and is a disabled veteran. He served a total of 26 years, including 11 years on active duty, deploying twice to the desert in support of Iraqi Freedom. Leo was activated the day after 9/11 and was on active duty for four years as part of Desert Storm. Born in Edinburg, TX in the Rio Grande Valley, Leo has worked at Harland Clarke for more than 23 years, where he is a Lead Pressman.
Leo moved to Mission Del Lago in September 2008 with his beautiful wife of more than 17 years, Diane, (the couple has four grown children). “I love living here because of my neighbors and all the friends here,” he said. “It’s a great place to live, with parks, walking trails, the golf course, and, soon, a swimming pool.”
When not home spending time at the amenities or socializing with friends and neighbors, Leo can be found enjoying a few of his favorite hobbies: barbecuing and riding his Harley, where he loves “being on the open road and meeting different people from all over with the same interest.”

If you prefer to pay your annual or quarterly HOA Assessment in person, be sure to check the Mission del Lago NextDoor frequently. Property Manager Jesse Keasler will be posting a message on NextDoor alerting residents to the dates and times when he will be on site to accept these payments.

In addition to the joy of being able to live in the same neighborhood as your loved ones, you can also get paid for it! For every new homeowner you bring in who closes on a new Express or Lennar property, you’ll receive one year’s free HOA dues.

SouthStar Property Management has revamped the neighborhood decal system to make it easier for everyone to get and show the neighborhood decal. Two decals were included in the recent mailing for the third installment of the 2016 HOA assessment. These decals will help other residents to recognize your vehicle on property. Summer is a great time to freshen up your home and yard, and make some improvements to your outdoor living areas. Just a reminder: Any changes made to the exterior of your home, including doors, gates, fences, landscaping, decks, etc. must be approved by the Architectural Review Board in advance. It can take up to 30 days for the ARB to approve your application, so please plan ahead! You can find the application for review on the Owner’s Website. Have a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or graduation coming up? The new marquis board at the entrance to Mission del Lago is a great way to recognize it! To add your message, simply contact info@SouthStarPropertyMgmt.com at least two weeks in advance. There is a $20 fee for adding your message to the board for 3 days.
The appearance of the community is important to us all. The Mission del Lago Board of Directors has hired a new landscape company to maintain the common areas throughout the community. All Seasons Landscape, a full-service landscape and irrigation company, is already underway in the community.
