The San Antonio real estate market chugged along in the first quarter of 2016, continuing to grow in sales and rise in prices.

“The local housing market is still seeing an increase in housing sales, with more than 5,900 homes being sold in the first quarter of 2016. This represents a 10 percent year-over-year rise according to the Multiple Listing Service Report from the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR), which reports on all areas contained within the MLS,” said the Bexar Witness. “The San Antonio area is seen as a vibrant market, but prices overall are affordable in comparison to other large cities in Texas and the nation, industry observers say,” they said. “The average sales price for the first quarter of this year rose 3 percent to $227,971 while the median sales price increased 4 percent to $192,900.”

In Bexar County, quarterly sales were up 13.2 percent, to 4,596 total sales and the average sold price in the county was $217,798, up 3.9 percent over last year.

Meanwhile, prices at Southside masterplanned community Mission del Lago start at just $160,000, and strong sales in this community of single-family new homes in San Antonio underscores the need for affordable new homes in San Antonio.

“In March alone, sales went up 14 percent for 2,523 homes sold,” they said. Mission del Lago is the fastest-selling community in all of San Antonio in its price category and one of the fastest growing across all price points. This 800-acre San Antonio golf course community offers homes from D.R Horton and Lennar and an array of resort amenities in a convenient and growing South San Antonio location.

The Southside is the hottest part of the city, with several thriving employers including the San Antonio Toyota Plant, the new two-story HEB supermarket, and the Greater Mission Recreational YMCA coming soon; new and revitalized amenities like the mixed-use Brooks City Base taking shape; and the new Texas A&M University campus growing faster than expected.

Mission del Lago is perfectly positioned to serve the needs of San Antonio homebuyers, whether they grew up on the Southside and are returning to raise their families, or are moving here for San Antonio’s strong job market. San Antonio was named the No. 5 “Hottest Real Estate Market of 2016” by FORTUNE and a “Best Buy City” by Forbes. They city also ranked highly on Forbes’ list of Best Places for Business and Careers, who noted that, “The San Antonio area has projected annual job growth of 2.7 percent, 26.7 percent college attainment and 1.5 percent high-tech employment.”
