Development of Homes Near Toyota Plant in San Antonio

Significant job creation, economic success and high demand for products have made the Toyota plant in San Antonio a successful investment for a leading manufacturer in the automobile industry and along with that made the Southside of San Antonio a highly desirable place to live. The plant produces more than 200,000 Toyota Tundra and Tacoma automobiles per year. Since production began in 2006, employees have been working overtime to keep up with demand.

In 2015, Toyota reached a decision on how to improve productivity without overworking their current workforce. San Antonio Express News has explained their new strategy in a September article. Toyota plans to hire hundreds of new employees and make Saturday a permanent addition to the work week.

The automobile company has decided internal expansion is the best strategical route to take. With new job creation, this means increased urbanization of the area and development of homes near the plant.

Before production began, the Southside was in need of a jumpstart for economic stability to keep up with the rest of the city. The automobile giant invested in San Antonio for many different reasons including how Texas is considered a “business-friendly environment and has a low cost of land and living, says Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz. Toyota is also in the process of constructing a new plant in Plano, TX.

The Southside of San Antonio where the Toyota plant is located is in a good location for employees who wish to own a home near the plant and also enjoy fairly quick downtown access. According to VisitSanAntonio, San Antonio is known as “Military City USA.” The website also mention that San Antonio has “one of the nation’s largest active and retired military populations.” This makes the Toyota plant an ideal location for the company to reach their goals.
